Band Interview: Waldgeflüster
We here at Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are very proud to bring you an interview with the excellent black metal band, Waldgeflüster. The band is based in Munich, Germany & has been taking the black metal world by storm with their incredible latest release, Ruinen.
You can read our review for Ruinen here. (Spoilers – we loved it!)
It also made the number two position in The Disc’s top 50 albums of 2016.
1. How did you get started as a band?
The Band was started as a solo project by Winterherz in 2006. 1 Demo and 3 full-length were released before Waldgeflüster became a full band with the previous live-members in 2014. In October 2016 we released our latest record ‘Ruinen’.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is probably described as nature inspired, emotional (Black) Metal. We take our inspiration from different styles of music and blend those together to get our distinct sound.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
There are too many to mention. I listen to so much different styles of music, that it is hard to name just a few inspirations. From folk, to pop, electro, death metal, black metal, post rock, you can find something from every genre in my CD and Vinyl collection.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
A tough one to answer, and I really don’t know it. On the one hand YouTube and streaming music helps young bands to get their name out real quick, and you can expose more potential fans to your music. On the other hand there are just too many bands out there nowadays. So it is very hard to still find those gems within those millions of links you can get.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I personally enjoy reading, sports, hanging out with friends and drinking beer.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
For 2017 we want to play some good shows. We are currently planning some. Also there are talks about a tour, although I can’t confirm anything yet. And last but not least we want to write new music.
We’d like to thank Waldgeflüster for taking the time to do this interview with us. You can find out much more about the band over on their official website here.
