Album Review: Lectern – Precept of Delator (Via Nocturna)

Legendary death metal band, Lectern released their latest album, Precept of Delator at the end of 2016. Nine tracks of crushing & brutalising death metal.

Lectern 1

An old-school chunk of metal that is filled with intense death metal heaviness & thrash metal rhythm, Precept of Delator is a gripping listen. From the moment the drums & guitars crash together on Gregal Profaner, you know you’re in for a head-bangingly good time.

Track after track of savage metal comes at you & all you can do is try to hold on as tight as possibly as the torrent threatens to wash you away. The likes of Fluent Bilocation, Pellucid and the title track deliver crunchy & bassy heaviness all while the guttural vocals reach flesh-ripping flesh levels of intensity.

It’s impressive that Lectern have managed to keep this constant brutalising pace up consistently & by time the unsparing riffs of Discorporation with Feral play out both the band & listener have reached their limit. A solid ending but one that perhaps lacks the same level of impact.

That being said, Precept of Delator is a damn good album. It’s filled with old-school thrashy death metal riffs, assaulting drum beats & vocals that impress with their barbarism.
