The Halo Effect – March Of The Unheard (Nuclear Blast)

Setting the melodeath bar high for 2025, which won’t be too much of a surprise to those familiar with The Halo Effect or the member’s other bands/projects, March of the Unheard isn’t about changing the world, it’s simply all about showcasing the best aspects of the genre, adding some accessibility and ensuring that fans come away very happy.

Ex Deo – Year Of The Four Emperors (Reigning Phoenix Music)

Heartily bombastic, potently heavy, and dripping in historical worth, Ex Deo’s new EP is a wonderful four-track listen. One that is, as always, rich in storytelling and structure.

Hanry – Disruption (Pelagic Records)

The Cimmerian – An Age Undreamed Of… (Hyborian Rage Records / Black Voodoo Records)

Across mostly gargantuan tracks, The Cimmerian deliver feral and furious force made up of sludge-soaked riffing, brawny percussion, and animalistic vocals. Moving smoothly between the smoothest of doom-focused sounds, experimental melody, and destructive viciousness, while constantly expanding and evolving across the album’s runtime.

Realm of the Exiled artwork

Realm of the Exiled is a really strong release showcasing two different sets of artists that have come together to create a unified body of work. An EP that delivers an immense amount of creativity and quality, delivering stunning melodies and atmosphere yet plenty of fire and fury too.
