Mono – Oath (Pelagic Records)
Experimental and unrushed music that combines classical orchestration with extensive shoegaze detail, Mono continue to be a treat to the senses. Delivering an album full of supremely attractive sounds, and while Mono might be lethargic in their approach, it’s a record you can truly sink into.

Sibiir – Undergang (Fysisk Format Records)
While the overall vision for this new album might have been about keeping it simple, Sibiir’s blend of musical styles means it, like all their previous work, pushes boundaries. It’s a little bit thrashy, it’s a little bit blackened, it’s got some hardcore edges, and shoegazy vibes. Musical styles that meld together here to create something very cool sounding.

Fangclub – All Good (Self Released)
It may not be ‘all good’ in the world right now, but things seem a little bit brighter when Fangclub are releasing music. While plenty of tracks have been out and about in the world, their impact isn’t diminished and this EP serves as a lovely collection of Fangclub’s emphatic return.

Downfall Of Mankind – Purgatory (Seek & Strike)
So much of this album has the potential to turn heads. Downfall of Mankind might sit in the more extreme side of metal, but they’ve managed to make their sound more accessible. Purgatory could be a huge album for them in the end.

Dreamslain – Forge Of Rebellion (Self Released)
Never a band to shy away from creating something wholly unique, somewhat strange, and convincingly unhinged. Dreamslain are back and back with something that requires focus and thought. Forge of Rebellion is a grand example of how this band defies genre labels and takes the listener on a journey that can simply be summed up as epic.

Legionary – Prison Realm (Self Released)
Legionary have delivered a really energetic and hard hitting EP with Prison Break. It isn’t game changing, there isn’t anything here that you haven’t heard before, it’s just meaty melodic metal and thrash with all the best elements thrown in the mix.

They are masters of melancholic heaviness, and once again, they deliver something profoundly affecting and decisively doomy.
