Winterfylleth – The Imperious Horizon (Candlelight / Spinefarm)

Reflecting a world that is dark and dangerously fractured, The Imperious Horizon finds Winterfylleth in a much bleaker mood. Even if a new release from this iconic black metal band makes everything feel that little brighter.

Oceans of Slumber – Where Gods Fear to Speak (Season of Mist)

Where Gods Fear to Speak is up there as one of the band’s best albums. Simply because it combines the best of all parts of this band. Taking their melancholic melodic ways, combining that with their scathing and intense heavy side, then adding in the progressive textures of recent times, and finding new, imaginative ways to blend it all together. This band’s evolution is enough to bring a happy tear to the eye.

Father Befouled – Immaculate Pain (Everlasting Spew Records)

As brutal as ever, as sickening as always, as violent as only they can be, and as virulent as they often are, Father Befouled return with a new slab of horrible death metal sounds.

Satan – Songs in Crimson (Metal Blade Records)

Heavy metal is the name of this game and while much of Satan’s sound is an ode to the old-school, there’s nothing dated about what is on offer here. Not quite an album of singles, but an album of songs that can be enjoyed on their own or as part of the bigger experience. Either way, Satan have knocked it out of the park here… again.

Kid Bookie – Songs For The Living // Songs For The Dead (Marshall Records)

This album kicks plenty of ass and showcases the immense talents of Kid Bookie and his collaborative ways, perfectly. His name is only going to grow in stature and it’s because of releases like this.

Glass Bridges – Myria (Self Released)

Myria is a very good listen and Glass Bridges already seem far ahead of where you would expect a band to be on their debut release. Good things seem to be in store for them, and based off this, it’s deserved.

Delilah Bon – Evil, Hate Filled Female (Self Released)

Pop in for the catchiness, but stay for the messages. Who knows? You might find yourself beginning to understand what is being said here that little bit better and having a bloody good time while you’re at it.

Torso – Brain Cells (APF Records)

This new album offering up eight slices of addictive horror and boundary pushing genre experimentation. It’s as raw and DIY as expected, but that just enhances the feeling of uneasiness that sits across this record like a bulbous vein.
