Ten Reasons to Go to Uprising 7 + Win Two Tickets & Two Official T-Shirts!

Last year (2023), we decided to jump in a car and drive to Leicester to experience a one-day festival we had heard a lot about, but had not actually been too before. It was called Uprising, it took place at the O2 Academy, and it was a phenomenal day. We had a blast, and you can read our review of the day here.

That was Uprising 6, this year, it’s Uprising 7 and once again, it takes place within the confines of the O2 Academy in Leicester on Saturday the 25th of May. Featuring 17 bands playing on 3 stages across the entire day, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. However, if you need a little more convincing, here’s ten reasons you should go.

1. The cost. It’s a full day of rock and metal in one venue, spread across three stages and all for a stupidly reasonable price. For an adult – face value for a ticket is £35. With 17 bands on offer, that works out to be about £2 a band. Insane.

2. The overall line-up. Uprising has delivered a stellar line-up this year that crosses many genres and showcases the old and new of the scene. You can experience the likes of the legendary Katatonia, experience the return of Breed 77, see Cellar Darling as a UK exclusive show, enjoy Seething Akira getting the place bouncing, bang your head to Barbarian Hermit, and more.

3. Sugar Horse. That’s it.

4. Tribe of Ghosts. One of the hottest UK acts who take these opportunities and run with them. Bookmark this, many people’s favourite band of the day will be Tribe of Ghosts. They are that good live.

5. The venue. Have you ever been to the O2 Academy Leicester? It’s a pretty cool place. With three stages, a chillout zone, plenty of bars, toilets, and seating areas, you can spend the entire day inside and not need to leave.

6. Which brings me to the only reason you might have to leave – food. Guess what? Uprising has food available at the venue and we’re not talking a greasy burger and some sad fries.

7. The vibe. The whole feel of Uprising is one of relaxation, fun, and friendliness. An air of pure positivity surrounds the event and everyone always seems to be smiling. It’s a happy place for many.

8. It’s an independent one-day festival, run by dedicated and passionate people. We need these festivals to exist.

9. The fun doesn’t stop when the bands finish up. Get your walking shoes on and head to the legendary Firebug for an after-party that goes on to 4am!

10. Finally, what more convincing do you need then to go and bask in the glory of Simon Yarwood’s shirt.

You’re going, right? Of course you are, but why not make a long weekend of it and treat yourself to The Night Before Uprising? An event taking place the night before at The Firebug and featuring Hang the Bastard, Foul Body Autopsy, Akilla, and Voidwalker. Then hang around on the day after and witness one hell of a show, also taking place in the O2 Academy – Arkona, with Ghosts of Atlantis, The Infernal Sea, and Ofnus. A weekend in Leicester has never been more appealing.

Tickets are available to buy here and you can keep up to date with all Uprising news here.
