Single Slam: Wraith by Suffer/Wallow (Suffer/Wallow)
Suffer/Wallow is a four-piece sludge-influenced hardcore outfit from Glasgow, Scotland. The band features members of Fuchsia, John Wheels, Slowwalkers, and ex-Rainfalls. Their first single Wraith is taken from their debut self-titled album, which will be released later this year. The main concept explored in the album is sleep paralysis, and its effect on the human mind.
The single is out now!
Only 59 seconds long, Wraith rages with hardcore potency. A very brief squeal of feedback leads into roaring & frenzied vocals while the instruments crash around with rampant madness. It’s a sharp thrust to the mind delivering desolate guitars and savage drumming. Take a minute, then another, then another just to replay it over and over again. Elements that you’d didn’t hear the first couple of times will start to make themselves known. It really makes you more appreciative of what Suffer/Wallow can do.
There’s not a lot to really say as it’s so short. It flies by in a typhoon of noise conjuring up images of small sweaty venues where bodies twist and turn in anger. Hardcore music hasn’t sounded this feral in quite some time and it certainly builds excitement and interest in the upcoming album!
