Single Slam: Dead Label, Swept to Sea, Heaven Shall Burn, and Copse!
Today’s single slam features Dead Label, Swept to Sea, Heaven Shall Burn, and Copse. You can read our thoughts about the latest singles from these bands below.
Dead Label – Embodiment of Agony
Irish heavyweights Dead Label are back with a slimmed down line-up (now a 3-piece) and a brand-new single called ‘Embodiment of Agony’.
The change within the ranks of Dead Label pushes the band in a fascinating new direction, one that sees them explore impressive melodic moments while being consistently brutal. If you’re after something to head bang hard to this week, Dead Label have you covered. Everyone already knows that this band kicks all kinds of ass, but based off what we’re hearing (the groovy riffs, the beastly beats, the contrast in vocal styles) they’re stepping things up. The future is looking very bright, but for now, let’s all just enjoy the bullish intensity of this one.
Swept to Sea – Exit Interview
San Francisco Bay area melodic metalcore band Swept to Sea are back with a brand-new single called ‘Exit Interview’.
Continuing to showcase the power and poise they have, Swept to Sea bring forth some mightily enjoyable metalcore sounds with this new track. A piece of music that wonderfully alternates between stompy garish heaviness and spicy melody, hitting an anthemic high with the chorus. It is a heavier focused track, but their innate ability to be harmonious means it sounds more melodic than it is.
Heaven Shall Burn – Keinen Schritt Zurück (feat. Donots)
Heaven Shall Burn have released a special new single and video, ‘Keinen Schritt Zurück’, featuring their longtime friends from the renowned German alternative/punk rock band Donots. This marks their first new music since they released a cover of Trivium’s ‘Pillars of Serpents’ at the end of 2022, and the highly successful album ‘Of Truth and Sacrifice’.
Strange bedfellows sometimes result in unforgettable things, and here, the pairing of Heaven Shall Burn and Donots results in something very special. Something punky, something heavy, something infectious, something outspoken, and something fun. They have collaborated because they have something to say, and like all good musicians, they express that through their instruments. That both bands are able to showcase what makes them individually special, is very cool.
Copse – Wish Ender (feat. David Duxbury of Hundred Year Old Man)
Copse, the genre-bending band that displays elements of black metal, shoegaze and post metal, have released their brand-new single, ‘Wish Ender’. This new track follows the release of ‘MMXXIV’, an album that combined the band’s first two EPs (‘Mara | Mondrem’ and ‘Old Belief |New Despair’) into one. In addition, the band are joined on this new track by David Duxbury from Hundred Year Old Man in a guest spot.
For long-term Copse fans, it won’t come as too much of a surprise to learn that this new single is a grand showcase of the band’s melancholic and savage balance. What Copse do so well is combine earnest and heart-wrenching melody with creative blasts of sheer brutality, and this track is all of that, and more. The band aren’t sitting still, and there’s an exciting freshness that comes from some infectious rhythms. The entre thing is given a extra layer of beautiful passion thanks to an excellent guest in the form of vocalist David Duxbury of Hundred Year Old Man.
