Single Slam – Three Bastards by Infant Annihilator (The Battle of Yaldabaoth)

Hull based deathcore band Infant Annihilator have released the first single from their incoming new album, The Battle of Yaldabaoth. This song is called Three Bastards.

The Battle of Yaldabaoth will be Infant Annihilator’s 3rd full length and follows 2016’s The Elysian Grandeval Galèriarch. The new album is set to drop on September 11th 2019 and will be self released.

The heavy and technical deathcore band are made up of English and American members and, what with the distance apart, have never toured though have recently stated that it could be a possibility. The English members are, on drums Aaron Kitcher and on bass and guitars, Eddie Pickard. The American side has always been on the vocals, initially with Dan Watson but that changed in 2014 to Dickie Allen.

Three Bastards

Whatever their set up, Infant Annihilator have released a banging track in Three Bastards. It comes in at around 4 and a quarter minutes long and is a vicious assault on the senses. Known for their over the top aggression to match their band name and song titles, the band will certainly leave an impression with this track. It goes without saying that it is heavy. Of course it is. It is a bit of a grindfest, with decent production. From the first moments of the songs wavy lead guitar intro, drop to drum solo and roar that kicks everything off, prepare to be left breathless. Machine like drumming, slamming bassy riffs and little lead guitar lines come at you on constant attack. It’s brilliant.

The vocals are amazing. The speed of delivery mixed with different tones is fantastic while the drum speed is ridiculous at times. What I love most though is how they occasionally allow a little respite from the destruction. A cleverly placed drum solo or quick groove section add so much to the song. It also happens to have one of my favourite vocal sections of the year. A moment of pure genius at around the 1 minute 50 second mark. Check that out and tell me you aren’t impressed? What a track.

Three Bastards is out now on all the usual streaming platforms and you can also grab a copy from the band on Bandcamp here. Preorder The Battle of Yaldabaoth from Bandcamp, Indiemerch or Impericon by following the links.

Post apocalyptic is my jam and I always have a book on the go and have for decades now. From a metal perspective, age has softened my inadequacies and I now operate with an open mind, loving many bands from many sub genres but having a particular admiration for the UK underground scene. In my other time, when not focused on Dad duties and work, I try to support the craft beer movement by drinking as much of it as I can and you will also find me out on the streets, walking. I love walking, I love exploring new places and snapping nature photos as I go.
