Single Slam: Rebel Girl by Angels and Airwaves
Unveiling their first new track in 3 years, former Blink 182 member Tom Delonge has revived his experimental rock band, Angels and Airwaves with a brand new single entitled ‘Rebel Girl’.
“’Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music,” DeLonge said in a statement. “As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company, so you never know — I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat.”
It’s a track that is going to give long-time Angels and Airwaves fans warm feelings. Tom Delonge’s mournful and emotive vocals playing out over snyth that will cause many a listener to go on a nostalgic trip. It’s very Angels and Airwaves, safely so which in itself is disappointing.
That could be forgivable if it was an exceptionally strong track but it’s middle of the road stuff. Likely to get a few replays or so but not going on an Angels and Airwaves best of playlist anytime soon.
Still it’s good to have them back!
