Single Slam: Omens by Egonaut
Formed in 2006, Egonaut have spent the last 13 years bringing sonic darkness to the masses. After having released three albums as a quartet (Electric, Mount Egonaut, Deluminati) the band transformed into a five-piece in 2017 with the release of their fourth album “The Omega”. Whether it being the early Fredrik-fronted stoner-rock line up or the current power-doom line up featuring new vocalist Emil Kyrk, Egonaut has been in constant motion, it’s sound forever evolving.
Sonically the current line-up of Egonaut can be described as a big melting pot of Swedish metal, combining heavy riffs with big choruses and haunting leads, topped off with whatever vocal style that serves the song best.
Egonaut are currently in the studio working on the follow up to The Omega, with a planned release late 2019 or early 2020 but the album will be preceded by two new songs, “Omens” out now and “The Warning” that is due out in the fall of 2019.
The Omen is a track that brings the big riffs, immediately getting the foot tapping and the head nodding along. A chunky intro quiets down for a more eerie sound and the vocals ring out in gruff classic metal style. It’s an impressive and attention grabbing song, helped along by a chorus that is surprisingly catchy.
A little more bite later on has it transform into a more sinister sounding track but equally as good. The guitars sing out loud and proud before exploding into a frantic solo to cap off a really awesome song.
