Single Slam: Ghostly Times – The Sender (Self Released)

Ghostly Times are a rock quartet based out of Brooklyn, NY. Their debut full-length album, When All That’s Left Is Grey was released on August 11th 2017. It was an incredible album, one of the best of the entire year (read our review here) so it’s with great excitement that we get a new single entitled ‘The Sender’.

Emotion is the name of the game here, it’s prevalent from the moment it starts with wonderful guitar melody before the soft and mournful vocals kick in. The same high level of post-rock rhythm and catchy hooks that made up the album are present again. Ghostly Times know how to get under your skin with their tunes and The Sender is no different.

The technical proficiency of the guitars is utterly thrilling and the vocals are sultry and impactful. The near-five minute track is over so quickly as everything comes together in a way that defies modern rock expectations. This is a very clever track, swelling to the point of eruption before drifting away in the sound of feedback and light strumming.

Exceptional.
