Bonecarver – Carnage Funeral

Crawling from the depths of the grime-filled Spanish underground, Bonecarver are once again on the lookout for fresh victims. The brutal death metallers have returned with the announcement of their new album, Carnage Funeral, due 11th November via Unique Leader Records.

Alongside the announcement the band have released a blazing new music video for their first single, the title track.

Bonecarver commented on the new single:

The title track from our new album Carnage Funeral looks inside the mind of someone that thinks the human race is an infection that should be exterminated. The world is coming close to the the point of no return and the only way to fix it is to end the human race. It’s an extreme way to look at the problem we are all living with, taking inspiration from movies, books and music.

Demonically charged, Bonecarver are back and back with aplomb. This new single beginning in ominous, dark and epic style. Before the group unleash a hellish cacophony of brutal death metal warped by a black metal edge. It’s pure chaos, unrestrained heaviness and unwaveringly harsh. Yet, it is also so damn listenable. Bonecarver are a talent beyond measure and metal this intense is simply too impressive to not love.

Aenaon – Psyche

Hailing from Greece, progressive/experimental black metallers Aenaon share the third single and accompanying music video for ‘Psyche’, taken from the group’s upcoming fourth studio album, Mnemosyne. The album will have its release on October 7th on Agonia Records.

A rich and expansive track that combines blistering blackened metal, progressive detail and experimental melodies. A blend of vicious and epic heaviness, it’s an enthralling example of brilliant excess that takes the listener on an eclectic journey that just gets more exciting as it goes on and with multiple listens. Expect the unexpected (such as the jazz break) and be prepared for something undeniably memorable. Check it out here.

Everfrost – Gotta Catch ‘Em All (ft. Mikael Salo of Thy Row)

Finnish symphonic power metal band Everfrost is sharing their next single “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” ft. Mikael Salo (Thy Row) from their forthcoming EP of anime cover songs entitled “Frostbites” that is due out on November 11th via Rockshots Records.

The band adds about the track:

When deciding the track listing for our first EP of anime cover songs, one of the ‘must-do’ candidates was ‘Gotta Catch ‘Em All’ from the worldwide phenomenon franchise Pokémon! We were kids when the first games dropped and the anime series started airing on television. We all have precious memories of waking up to this song before school or on weekend mornings. Aside from being an absolute banger, it preaches such an inspirational message to get out there, be the best you can be, and achieve whatever it is you are after. Our version brings back the magic and charm of the original version and uses the force of Finnish metal to empower this message even more. This song will also be the second to last EVERFROST song that our former vocalist Mikael Salo will sing on, giving one of his best performances yet. We also again had the pleasure to work with vocalist extraordinaires Yannis Papadopoulos (Beast in Black), Bini Silvennoinen (Blame Me!), and Sara Vanhamäki (Strömmer) (Shereign, ex-Fear of Domination) when recreating the iconic backing vocals of the original version. Put this on anytime, it’ll give you the nostalgia rush of a lifetime!

It’s not like covering this song is something fresh or new but that doesn’t mean Everfrost aren’t having some fun and giving it their own touch. The symphonic power of the band combining nicely with the anthemic sound of the Pokemon theme song. It’s nostalgic fun and nothing more. Smile inducing stuff, and it will take a right misery guts to not sing along to that chorus. Check it out here.

Graphic Nature – White Noise

Rising British metallers, Graphic Nature, known for their aggressive contemporary sound, one influenced by nu-metal and early 2000’s metalcore, have released their latest single, ‘White Noise’.

Speaking of ‘White Noise’, frontman Harvey Freeman says:

White Noise is about sensory overload and the overwhelming feeling of claustrophobia that neurodivergent humans experience on a near daily basis. It’s a horrible feeling of helplessness and anxiety that nothing can really help other than a quiet space and something to take your mind off of the situation.

Releases like this are only going to help further the name of Graphic Nature. White Noise being a stompy blast of metallic hardcore and metalcore fury. Aggressive and intense, the riffs are razor sharp and the drums are bone-crushing. Yet, it’s the vocals and the amount of passion in them, that stands out more than anything else.

Nazghor – Primordial Lineage

Swedish black metal band Nazghor have released their new single, Primordial Lineage. Taken from their upcoming new album ‘Seventh Secular Crusade’, out on the 25th of November 2022.

A wailing and gnashing of black metal horror, Nazghor bring cinematic touches to their unmitigated ferocity. A vicious assault of blackened heaviness that has a much more modern approach. The familiar intensity of the instrumentation and vocals meet no resistance from the grandiose depth that gives the track so much more life. Come the end, a simple question remains. Are we paying enough attention to Nazghor? Based off this epic, we probably should be. Check it out here.

Casket Robbery – Worm Food

Casket Robbery has released the official lyric video for Worm Food’, the first single from their upcoming new album, Rituals of Death. The album will be out on November 11th on Blood Blast Distribution.

A no-nonsense slab of guttural and brutalising death metal. Casket Robbery are not holding back in the slightest here and the resulting carnage creating by such savagery is enough to make you wretch. That being said, it’s not senseless noise and even the absurd speed can’t hide the impressive stomp and gurn rhythm that exists throughout. Brutality that the whole family can enjoy. Check it out here.

Alive in Barcelona – Asphyxiate

Active rock is thriving more than ever and Alive in Barcelona is the one to watch in the genre for Fall 2022. They are releasing their ‘Flatline’ EP in November and are teasing the release with their single ‘Asphyxiate’, out now.

Starry melody, pithy and hard-hitting rock groove, there’s a lot to like about Alive In Barcelona at first and then they hit an even higher gear. The vocals roaring with metal power and the chorus help turn this track into one hell of an anthem. The crashing and banging of instruments much more robust than initially expected and the vocals showing off an impressive amount of range. Based off this track, this new EP is going to be a bit of a banger.

Implore – Archetype

Implore have dropped their third and final single from their upcoming album ‘The Burden of Existence’! The album will be released on the 28th of October via Church Road Records.

A bit of Implore is always welcome. Even more so when it’s as straight-forwardly heavy and savage as Archetype is. The band going hell for leather, slamming their instruments in ways that make you winch and with vocals that have all the scathing power to strip skin from flesh. Furious and unforgiving death metal, the lack of complexities in it, helps enhance the feeling that Implore are giving it their all. Which they clearly are. Check it out here.

Birds in Row – Noah / Cathedrals

French experimental punk / hardcore band Birds in Row have released two new singles, Noah / Cathedrals. Taken from their upcoming new album ‘Gris Klen’, which sees its release on October 14th via Red Creek Recordings.

The band explains:

‘Noah’ / ‘Cathedrals’ is a diptych. ‘Noah’, speaks about the seeking of truth and reality, in a collapsing world, and how answering philosophical questions by economical answers is the norm, the getaway. And on the other hand, ‘Cathedrals’, we talk about the need to reinvent ourselves but also to learn constantly; The need of deconstruction in order to rebuild something more sustainable and fair for all.

Two for the price of one, don’t ever expect Birds in Row to follow the rules and once again the experimental band prove they are in a league of their own. Is what they do genius or is it madness? Probably a bit of both. Certainly, a bit of both is infused into this. Bird in Row delivering a mesmerising experience with both tracks. Where a stunning transition moves one to the other perfectly and it’s hard to decide just which track stands out more. They’re both intense, unusual and enthralling. Such is the music of Birds in Row.
