Pathos & Logos Return with New Single ‘Let Me Go’ – Out Feb 14th, 2025
Alternative, and progressive metal power-duo (guitarist Kyle Neeley and drummer Paul Christiansen), Pathos & Logos are back with a brand-new single called ‘Let Me Go’, due to be released on February 14th, 2025. The single features two alternate versions (Hunter’s Moon Version and an Instrumental Version) and is the first taste of the band’s new release, ‘Gospel’.
‘Gospel’ will be released on June 20th, 2025, and is the much anticipated follow up to the power duo’s acclaimed 2022 EP of instrumentals, ‘Cult’.
Mixed by Kyle Neeley (The Black Dahlia Murder, In This Moment) and mastered by Ryan Williams (Slayer, Kardishev), ‘Gospel’ is a landmark album for the duo. It is the first Pathos & Logos release to feature vocals! Both members taking turns singing darkly introspective lyrics that will satisfy fans of Stephen King as much it will fans of Spiritbox.
Regarding the addition of lyrics to their songs, the band has this to say:
We have played in 20 states and Canada and communed with countless audiences as an instrumental duo, a medium we have grown accustomed to since the band’s inception in 2018.
Following the release of our 2022 album Cult, our successful PR campaign and over a year of touring, we developed and recorded a new album, tentatively called Gospel. Pushing boundaries of concept, technique and energy, this new instrumental album was ready for release on-schedule for the summer of 2024, but in early 2024 it began to seem that a hidden hand was pushing us towards exciting but untested new possibilities.
A talented local singer became available, and we decided to reach out to ask about working together on a new project. They were eager to meet, and after a few sessions discussing their interest, intention and creative direction, we began collaborating. An entire separate album was written and recorded, lyrics were written and the logistics of being a band with vocals were established. Ultimately, this new band never came to life, but the message from the Universe was clear: it was time to reorder Pathos & Logos and become a vocal project.
The beginning of this endeavour held inspiring experiments and novel challenges in equal measure. It was exciting to recommission our dormant vocal capabilities and write lyrics, but neither of us had consistently performed vocals for many years. We were also tasked with acquiring new vocal skills that demanded protracted, careful and consistent effort; a daunting task all by itself, let alone following an unusually long interval of inactivity. Playing and singing also required certain modifications to our writing style to accommodate the new influx of energy and concept, resulting in a streamlining of our sound and a departure from the improvisational aspects of our process.
In the end, after many months of growing, learning, adjusting and interfacing with the new reality, the stars aligned, and a new version of Gospel was born. It is our greatest songwriting to date and has woven within it the richest and most potent Magick we have ever done. The original version of Gospel still sleeps, dreaming deep of its proximal timeline, but the new Gospel is ready, and the time has come to spread the good word. Thank you all for your kindness, support and love; the Gospel is coming, and in eager anticipation of its power and passion we once more invoke the unifying spell of our sect: GLORY TO THE ORDER.
Pathos & Logos formed in Denver, Colorado in 2018. Neeley and Christiansen had worked together in numerous acts before, ultimately finding that in their case less meant more, working as a duo allowing them to keep the pace they always wanted. With a goal of creating the most compelling music they could in as round and holistic a way as possible, they draw from a lot of different stylistic influences, exploring these sounds in their fullness. At the same time, it was important to go beyond this, bringing in the ideas they had been sharing prior to the band’s inception. In particular, celebrating art as a system of spirituality and Magick as a way of life.
