When I approach video games I approach them as a story-telling medium where you can indulge yourself in both the world they’ve built, the characters and the music. Story and soundtrack are what’s most important to me, and it’s very difficult to choose a favourite. There are some games I always go back to, and that’s Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy X and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. There’s been a lot of hours in GTA V: Online too, but that’s more of a social thing than a story medium in my mind.

Growing up with NES, the departure to the first MGS and Silent Hill on the PSX was a huge experience. Further seeing the tanker-chapter in MGS2:SoL on the PS2, and the Blitzball FMV sequence in the opening FFX were mindblowing at the time. And the soundtrack of both those games… Breathtaking.

Still, my first playthrough of Skyrim on the PS3 might possibly be the most memorable experience I have with a video game. Waking up in that chariot, escaping Helgen and discovering Riverwood for the first time within a world I knew nothing about in an atmospheric scenery and perfect ambient background music. Great feeling!

I had to go for the platinum trophy on both PS3 and on the PS5 remaster, and spent way too much time diving into the lore of the daedras and the dragons, haha! Even if the platinum for the remaster of FFX having to beat Penance was a lot harder, getting it in Skyrim reels more rewarding as it really takes you through all the great aspects of the game.
