My Favourite Horror Movie: Deadaudiosaints
Deadaudiosaints are a formidable Yorkshire-based electronic alt-rock three-piece with prominent influences that range from NiN, Placebo and Muse. Their explosive new EP, ‘To Whom It May Concern’ is out on May 3rd, 2024.
My Favourite Horror Movie is a guest piece that asks the simple question of a band/artist… what is your favourite horror movie (or horror franchise)? In this article, vocalist Danny Jones of Deadaudiosaints offers up his choice.
It’s pretty difficult to pick just one horror film that I like more than another when I like so many of them. Dawn of The Dead (2004), House of 1000 Corpses, IT, The Grudge, Gothika, Us, The Purge. The list is seriously endless. But I think the one franchise I don’t get bored of is ‘Scream’. ‘Scream’ (1996) and ‘Scream 2’ are my favourite ones. I’ve always thought that a scary/slasher movie that uses scary movies as an influence and to taunt the ‘victims’ is very slick and cool.
The Wes Craven ‘easter eggs’ always make me smile too. Like the cleaner/janitor ‘Fred’ with the hat and jumper. A great little reference to ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. I love all the little details like Matthew Lillards ‘Knife Clean’ and the improv bits are really on point. I also really like the fact that it becomes a franchise within a franchise, as with ‘Stab’. I could probably go on all day about why I love the Scream films so much but we would definitely run out of time and space. The soundtracks, the cast, the filmography. ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?…’
