Music News – Tarah Who? Release New Music Video for the track Hurt

The female fronted punk rock, power trio from Los Angeles, Tarah Who?, have released a new video for their song, Hurt. Check it out below:

Tarah Who? are Tarah G. Carpenter (Vocals, guitar), Joey Southern (Bass) and female drummer Coralie Hervé.

Tarah Who? Well, “she” equals “they,” and “they’re” a band masterminded by grunge-punk sage Tarah Carpenter, a firebrand frontwoman who channels explosive emotionality into rousing anthems. “I’m really sensitive to things that happen around me, and I love studying psychology and human behavior,” Tarah shares. “When I write, I seek to process personal stories and news stories through these perspectives, but in a way that’s relatable to everyone.”

Tarah exudes a spiritual centeredness that is poetically aligned to the origins of her name. The name “Tara” in Buddhist lore refers to the “mother of liberation,” an apt archetypal reference for such a strong and shamanistic female artist. Tarah Who? recalls 1990s alt-rock and grunge’s tradition of balancing integrity with tuneful songcraft. Entries in the Tarah Who? oeuvre sit nicely alongside Alanis Morissette, Foo fighters, The Distillers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Spinerette.

Speaking about the meaning behind the song Hurt, vocalist Tarah states:

“I wrote this song a few years ago after a friendship had ended. Interestingly enough it was and felt like a break up even though this was never a love relationship in this sense. We were friends. We spent a lot of times on the road sharing stories and opening up, like good friends do.. We had a plan. We were going to be a team. Then one day he emailed me saying that he could no longer be friends, thank you for taking me on this journey: “I hope you are not mad”. Never heard from him again”.

Hurt is available on the band’s latest EP, 64 Women which was released on the 8th of March this year. You can grab a copy of that from Spotify or Apple Music by following the links.
