Music News: Doom Metal Trio Godthrymm Release New Video/Single!
Doom metal trio Godthrymm have unveiled new single ‘The Sea As My Grave’ ahead of the release of their debut album Reflections on 14 February via Profound Lore.
Godthrymm, featuring vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre, Solstice), drummer Shaun Taylor-Steels (ex-My Dying Bride, Anathema), and bassist Bob Crolla, arrive with riffs as gargantuan as the pedigree behind their band members.
‘The Sea As My Grave’, a mournful lament with crushing waves of titanic riffs and pounding drums, punctuated with ghostly leads and sombre vocals, is the latest single taken from forthcoming new album Reflections, a mammoth slab of heavy, anguished, yet pummelling traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ‘90s UK doom/Peaceville Records.
Vocalist and guitarist Hamish Glencross comments:
Lyrically, ‘The Sea As My Grave’ paints a picture of a broken, tired human giving up their earthly remains to the sea for an eternal rest in the vastness of the oceans. Musically, we believe this song perfectly defines us stylistically as a band, and represents us perfectly as musicians. The video was pieced together by our friend Carl Assault from live footage taken in Belgium last summer. Thank you for listening.
Godthrymm’s Reflections will be released on CD, 2xLP on February 14th, and digital formats. To mark the release of the album Godthrymm will be playing at The Unicorn Camden Live in Camden, London on Saturday February the 22nd. Details including supports to be announced soon.
