Live Review: Green Lung with Wytch Hazel at the Electric Ballroom, Camden, London (10/12/23)
Green Lung are an unstoppable force in metal right now, and no further proof is needed than this extensive UK tour that has seen venues sold out all over the place. Including the final date of the tour in London. Everyone wants to experience this band in the flesh, and for good reason, as they have proven to be an immense live band, and have a stellar new album to promote in This Heathen land.
The band’s third album, This Heathen Land was released on November 3rd, 2023, via Nuclear Blast Records, and has ended up on many a ‘top 2023’ list.
We said that:
This Heathen Land showcases a developed Green Lung, expanding on their lovable occult rock sound with doom, classic rock, and NWOBHM influences. The dominance of Green Lung continues, This Heathen Land is another slice of brilliance.

We had to see them live, so Louise squeezed her way into the Electric Ballroom to witness just what makes Green Lung so special.
A dreary Winter night in London and early doors don’t stop the hordes filling the Ballroom tonight. Sold out and boy, does it feel it!
Wytch Hazel have a full crowd and get a very warm welcome. Their heavy metal tinged folk rock themes are the perfect support for Green Lung. Featuring gloriously epic riffs and the band is loving every minute of their time on stage. Politely asking if they can play tracks from their back catalogue, something the crowd are more than happy to allow. The set flies by and they sound as tight as the white leggings they don.
Suitably warmed up it’s time for Green Lung to take us on a journey. Opening with prologue from their latest album and coming out to rapturous applause. The set is packed with songs that already sound anthemic. From Woodland Rites to Old Gods the crowd are feverishly hypnotised. They also play a lot of the new album, which is no surprise, it’s a fantastic piece of work.
Song of the Stones was a real highlight for me personally, hearing it played live was magical, with that opening drum beat and the layers that follow. It sounded great. Tom’s vocals soar throughout the set – the fantastic sound and lights all combining to add real atmosphere to the proceedings. A legion of Green Lung fans know they have seen something special at their biggest home town show and long may this band ascend!
