Kusanagi Announce New Album ‘Paramnesia’ – Release Single ‘Spacial Awareness’

Kusanagi, the instrumental post-rock band, have announced that their new album ‘Paramnesia’ will be released on 30th May 2025 via Ripcord Records. To celebrate this announcement, the first single, ‘Spacial Awareness’, is out now.

Says the band:

The band revisited this particular track numerous times throughout the writing process and realised that one of the core elements of the track was the middle atmospheric section which really complimented the sonic vibe and aesthetic that worked with the track title which was one the earliest ideas that the band initially had. The definition of what the alternate title means is basically the awareness of objects and structures that move through different times and space. The band thought that this particular definition work well with the main musical idea that they focused on during the early writing sessions of the track.

Focusing on this section, another key element that was written was the opening bass line intro that set the foundation and structure of the track which then inspired the other members of the band to contribute their musical components and that gave the entire track a particular musical direction that overall worked with the general aesthetic and concept of the album which the band was working towards.

Kusanagi (Liverpool, UK) was formed in October 2011 and consists of four members, Alan Caulton (guitar), Ben Davis (guitar), Dan Hunt (bass) and Dean Caffery (drums). All members share a common interest in creating music that has been inspired by a variety of different styles and genres from Post Rock, Electronic, Metal, Hip Hop, Synth Wave and Classical.

Kusanagi have always had a strong ethos and vision on how they wanted to contribute to the music scene, which they were positively welcomed into from the early conception of the band. They have played festivals such as like Arctangent, Portals, Effigy, Strange Forms, Threshold, after which they were inspired to create their own local events which gave them the opportunity to collaborate with and help a variety of different artists and bands.

During the writing of PARAMNESIA, it was clear that each individual track that was being written had a unique aesthetic that represented an abstract dream state containing atmospheric style sounds. The album concept was slowly taking shape which was being constantly informed by the music and possible ideas for track titles.

The album is about an abstract dream state that was created by human subconsciousness and could create a link between reality and dreams. The listener would travel between like a sonic dream portal. This concept led to choosing the album title “PARAMNESIA”, the definition of this means “the concept of abstract distorted memories between reality and dreams”.

The third album from Kusanagi entitled “PARAMNESIA” consists of eight full length tracks and will be released on the 30th of May 2025 via the band’s Bandcamp and Ripcord Records on CD and available to download on all online digital streaming platforms.
