1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.

We’re a four-piece alt rock band drawing influences from classic rock, pop and metal. We’re all passionate about having fun with our listeners, and love putting on high energy and engaging live shows. My name is Tim and I created this band off the back of years touring as a solo artist, and bringing these songs to life is incredible in and of itself, let alone being able to do so with my closest friends on the journey alongside me. We got in a practice room just before COVID, and still had the thirst afterwards, and now here we are releasing music.

2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

Alternative Rock – a bit classic rock, a bit funky groovy. Something to dance and headbang to.

3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.

Our third single is out on Friday 25th October, called Whips & Chains. I think it may be our best track so far – I know we all say that, but I really mean it. The video was great fun to make and is looking great so don’t miss it. Then we move onto getting the full EP out some time in November hopefully.

4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?

Hearing people sing along, and talk about how much they’ve enjoyed it. It makes you feel like you made a difference to some people, even if it was one night of fun, or the new soundtrack to a part of their life.

5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?

With music venues struggling it can be really difficult to find shows and then get the people down to them. The industry is changing, it’s all about content nowadays and being grown men with jobs to pay the bills it doesn’t leave you a huge amount of time to create content to then use for advertising and band awareness. But we do our best and we see the benefits and dividends over time. I think we’re heading in the right direction and we’re a creative bunch of silly guys.

6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?

It’s tough I can’t lie. It can feel like quantity over quality. I think we find a happy medium in balance between focussing on what really matters and doing just enough to be seen. Our first step this year has been getting some tracks “on the board” so people have something to gravitate towards and that’s been a fairly natural and fun process.

7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?

Not enough people get out to see new bands. I don’t know how to interest people in it, but I guess promoters, venues and bands alike need to switch up how they market to potential new fans. Be creative and innovative. It’s a lot of extra pressure but if you’re complacent you will fail. There’s no other option.

8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?

Come to shows, buy tickets from the band where possible, buy our merch, support us with your visibility on our social media, like and follow. Be present. Every visible involvement helps us market the band, and any way we can get monetary support directly into the band helps us afford the content to use for the marketing. As simple as that. Think band first!

9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?

Gaming – invaluable escapism and a stimulation of the creative mind. Books and films too.

10. Where can people find you?

Just head over to Kingsfoil.co.uk and all the links you could ever need are there. We are most active on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook, but we also dabble in TikTok from time to time.
