1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.

Hi, thanks for having me! I’m Savannah, the violinist of INFINITAS. We’re from Muotathal, Switzerland, which is a small village in the Swiss mountains. We got started in 2010 when Piri (drummer) and Selv (guitarist) came together to create this band. They started off with different singers and violinists and started by playing gigs in the area. I started playing with INFINITAS in 2019 and Mary joined in 2020.

2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

We like to call our music “Fantasy infused melodic metal”. Some of the really old songs might be a bit more folk metal, but nowadays we don’t see ourselves in this genre. Although we do have a violin, the violin acts more like a second guitar and less like a traditional folk instrument. And of course Mary’s awesome growls and clean vocals stir things up as well.

All our songs carry the name of a demon, god, or mystical creature – hence the fantasy part. The charactaristics and stories behind theses creatures are told in our lyrics. These reflect what we are going through in our lives and what we would like to share with the world.

3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.

We just released our latest single “Laima” and it has been getting a lot of resonance! This song is about going all in and taking risks in life – making sacrafices to live your dreams. I got to play the main role in the music video – which was a new experience for me, but a fun one! I won’t tell you too much about the video – better go watch it yourself, but there are some pretty crazy scenes we had to shoot. One even involved breaking a violin.

We also just raised enough money through our crowdfunding campaign to record and release our next album. Thank you to everyone who supported us- We can’t wait to share new music with you!

4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?

Performing on stage is always a highlight for me. Even though I would describe myself as a rather introverted person – the stage lets me step into a different role, still be myself and share my music with the world…all at the same time! Looking into a crowd and seeing people dancing, singing along to a song and getting carried by the music warms my heart!

5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?

Even though I am very involved with INFINITAS – I have a lot going on in my life aside from it. I run a small violin making business as well. Coordinating these two projects can sometimes be quite challenging. Luckily, they are both things that I love doing!

6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?

Thanks for asking this question! I think a lot of people underestimate how much work goes into this aspect. Like other bands it is essential to show your presence on social media if you want to create a fan base aside form live shows. Making sure content is posted on a regular basis is very important and social media can be as overwhelming as rewarding at times. There are always both sides. We’ve also gotten to connect to a bunch of wonderful people and other bands online.

7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?

So much as changed – not all for that bad. I think there are different things I could touch upon, but one development that I personally have trouble with is that albums are losing their importance. Streaming plattforms push single releases so much more and playlists are more important. Playlists are awesome to get to know new music, but listening to a full album from start to finish is an experience. I sometimes feel like this art of storytelling is disappearing. How to fix this? Listen to albums! Try and find out what the artist is trying to tell you…sometimes it takes more than just one single to recognize it.

8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?

Listen to our music, share it with your friends and come to a concert. We’re always hanging out at the merch stand after the show – so come say hi! We’d love to meet you in person!

9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?

I love nature. You’ll probably find me hiking, camping or just enjoying the sun and reading a book.

10. Where can people find you?
