Interview: Fire The Humans (Written – 2024)
The solo project of the ex-singer/songwriter for thePour, Fire the Humans will release the new single, ‘Clever’ on October 31st, 2024. We catch up with Fire the Humans and learn a little bit more about the project in this interview.
1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit aboutyourself and how you got started.
Fire the Humans started as I was writing for my solo project throughout Covid. I had been the singer/songwriter for a band called thePour, but wanted to explore other avenues of what I was wanting in music.
2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
I tell them my sound is like if Rival Sons and Prince had a baby. That would be Fire the Humans.
3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.
‘CLEVER’ is the new single to be released on 10/31/24. Live concerts and touring will begin in 2025.
4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?
Creating something out of nothing is the most fulfilling quality to life. Expressing what I feel, see and dream about is only part of it. Hearing how others interpret and relate is the most positive experiences.
5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?
Music is art. I would love to paint daily and release artwork daily if I could. It’s just not realistic. That becomes challenging.
6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?
I simply do not succumb to such barriers. If bands and artists choose to use social media platforms for content, I get it, but feel like someone is trying to sell me something. I just choose to walk a different path. I’d rather be unknown and people find the artwork.
7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?
Again, there are simply two different worlds in music. There is creating music. Then there is selling music. The industry is designed to sell the music. If you know what it is, it shouldn’t surprise you.
8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?
Listen. Listen close.
9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?
Family, gym and hang with friends.
10. Where can people find you?
I choose to not use social media platforms other than YouTube and digital media. (Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music etc).
