1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.

Hi, thanks for having me. I’m Jordi Ruiz, guitarist and founder of EXXASENS. I started this project years ago as a solo endeavor, inspired by my fascination with space and science fiction. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of creating music that can transport the listener to other worlds, like the soundtrack to an intergalactic journey. Over time, EXXASENS evolved into a full band, which has allowed me to explore new layers and textures in our music and add a deeper dimension to it.

2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?

I’d say we play instrumental post-rock with a very cinematic and space-oriented feel. Our music combines atmospheric guitar-driven soundscapes with electronic elements, like a journey through the cosmos. It’s music that aims to capture the beauty, mystery, and vastness of the universe, drawing on influences from prog-rock, ambient, and even metal.

3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.

Right now, we’re gearing up for the release of our latest album, INFINITUM, which comes next 8th November. We’re also getting ready for an upcoming tour, between April and Junes 2025. We hope to bring our new music to fans across Europe and even China.

4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?

For me, one of the most rewarding experiences has been connecting with fans. Seeing people resonate with our music—whether through messages they send us or at live shows—is incredibly fulfilling. Music is a universal language, and knowing that our work can evoke emotions and inspire people from different cultures and backgrounds is an amazing feeling.

5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?

One of the biggest challenges has been managing the logistical and financial aspects of being an independent band, especially when it comes to touring internationally. It takes a lot of planning and resources. We’ve managed to overcome these challenges by staying true to our DIY roots and working with passionate people in the industry who believe in our music. It’s all about balancing creativity with practicality and making the most of the resources we have.

6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?

It’s a tricky balance. While I understand the importance of social media, I try not to let numbers define our success. For us, the true measure is the music and the connection it creates with people. We focus on meaningful content and genuine engagement with fans rather than just posting for the sake of it. It’s about finding a rhythm that lets us stay connected without losing sight of the music.

7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?

Something that frustrates me is the overemphasis on streaming statistics. Sometimes it feels like music is reduced to numbers and algorithms. I’d love to see the industry place more value on artistry and the live music experience. Supporting physical releases, fostering local music scenes, and prioritizing quality over quantity would be great steps forward.

8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?

The best way to support us is by streaming, sharing, and adding our music to playlists! Buying physical copies of our albums, like vinyl, and coming to our shows also makes a big difference. Every bit of support helps us keep making music and reaching new audiences.

9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?

I enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, and disconnecting from screens to recharge. I’m also a big sci-fi fan, so I love watching movies and series in that genre—it’s a great way to unwind and find inspiration. Spending time with family and friends is also important, as is listening to other music that helps me relax and recharge.

10. Where can people find you?

You can find us on all major streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube (@exxasens). We’re also active on social media—Instagram (@exxasens_official), Facebook (@elevenmiles), and Twitter (exxasens)—where we share updates, tour dates, and behind-the-scenes content in our official website.
