Interview: Artifer (Written)
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life bring you an interview with pop-punk infused metalcore band, Artifer.
1. Hello! Thank you for taking the time to chat to us. First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started.
Well, we’re a metalcore band with loads of pop and punk influences, based out of Tallinn, Estonia. What was originally a one man passion project in 2019, quickly grew into a proper band over the pandemic.
2. Someone comes to you and asks you to sum up what kind of music you play – what do you tell them?
Honestly, the term buttcore could be used and it wouldn’t at all be wrong. There’s metal elements mixed in with a pop sound and stuff from all over.
3. What’s currently going on in your camp? New releases? Tours? Etc.
We’re nearing completion on a new single and seek to go and put on a few live shows in autumn.
4. What has been the most positive experience of making music to date for you?
The mental health benefit of it all has been such a positive experience.
5. Likewise, what has been some of the more challenging aspects and how have you overcome them?
The lyric writing was quite tricky at first, but over time it’s gotten a bit easier and smooth.
6. How do you handle the modern expectations of being in a band? Always online, having to put out content constantly, your success measured in likes and follows?
It’s quite difficult, the constant need to put something out and drive engagement takes a lot of effort that could be spent on music instead.
7. What’s something that really ‘grinds your gears’ about the industry/business these days and what would you propose is done to combat it?
Definitely the preference of popularity over musicality by labels. Easiest way to combat it is to not feed the machine but it’s difficult when the labels buy in already popular acts on social media.
8. Speaking directly to listeners – what would you ask they do to help support your music?
Just listen to the music. Talk with us at shows, buy our merch. Just be a part of the family. That’s the best kind of support.
9. Outside of the music, what’s do you do to relax?
Games, movies, going out into nature, reading. All kinds of things amongst us.
10. Where can people find you?
We’re available on most social media platforms and almost all streaming sites. For comprehensive list you can go to:
