Interview: Adam Zaars (Guitars) of Tribulation (Video/Audio)

While they may be renowned for their unique blend of gothic and death metal, Tribulation are not ones to repeat a formula and on Sub Rosa in Æternum, they conjure a new beast. Part psychological horror of Italian cinema, part gaunt British goth, and part Art Deco opulence. It was released on November 1st, 2024, via Century Media Records.

The ever-evolving face of Tribulation is on clear display here and they can never be accused of stagnating. Another strong example of them being imaginative and interesting. When it’s good (Saturn Coming Down, Murder in Red, Reaping Song), it’s really freaking good. Tribulation as untouchable as ever.

We spoke to guitarist Adam Zaars (cold and all) about the new album and the creative energy the band found they had when it came to making it a reality. We discuss the vision and how some clean vocals set the stage for what we would get. We also discuss the horror influences, getting into the impact of giallos on the band as a whole, as well as this record, and so much more.
