Incineration Fest 2023: Five Bands You Should Definitely Check Out
Dark and troubling clouds will cover the sky over Camden this Saturday (13th May 2023) as Incineration Fest takes over. The yearly extreme metal one-dayer has, once again, outdone itself with a line-up that features an array of noise-mongers, both old and new. From the brutal slam death metal sound of PaRtY-CaNnOn to the black metal sound of Lamp of Murmuur. To the progressive death metal sound of De Profundis, the doom of Witchsorrow, and the black metal legends that is Marduk. There’s something for everyone, if you like extreme metal, at Incineration Fest.
Taking place all day across four venues in the heart of Camden; The Underworld, The Electric Ballroom, The Black Heart, and The Dev, Incineration Fest has now officially sold out. Which is simply awesome, and testament to the trust people have in this festival.
We know, this will be our third time attending, and we can’t wait. So much so, that we wanted to give you our band recommendations. Just five. Five bands we think you should definitely check out.
Urne – The Electric Ballroom (1:20pm – 2:00pm)
Has it really been almost two years since the London-based metal band that is Urne released their phenomenal debut album, Serpent & Spirit? That’s an album that is still getting regular spins now, and the band are gearing up for the release of the follow-up ‘A Feast of Sorrows’ on August 11th, 2023. It’s a no-brainer that Urne are one of our recommendations. They are killer live, and are a band that has been improving show by show. This might be one of those ‘where you there?’ moments.
Veiled – The Dev (3:30pm – 4:00pm)
They’re a new band on the scene, but they’ve already made some serious noise. The brilliance of their blackened symphonic metal on full and delightful display on their new EP ‘The Black Rite’. The Dev isn’t going to know what hit it, and you might want to get down early for this one if you want to enjoy it.
Rotting Christ – The Electric Ballroom (5:10pm – 6:00pm)
A band that should need no introduction, the melodic/epic black metal band always put on an unforgettable show and the expectations is that they will continue that trend at Incineration Fest. So much so, that we kind of expect this to be the set of the entire fest, that’s how good Rotting Christ are. The walls and floor of the Ballroom are going to be shaking.
Wolfbastard – The Black Heart (2:00pm – 2:30pm)
Blackened d-beat metal, crack the crust on this band and don’t be surprised if it makes you wretch. Wolfbastard are noisy buggers, and we love them for it. Expect their show to be one of the most energetic, sweaty, and violent (in a good way) of the entire day. It’s going to be lovable chaos.
PaRtY-CaNnOn – The Underworld (12:20pm – 1:00pm)
The first band playing of the entire festival and what a way to start the day off. If you’ve never seen PaRtY-CaNnOn live, putting it simply, you’ve not lived. Their intense, vomit-inducing, and disordered music is at its best live, and this is going to be one hell of a lot of fun. Don’t be surprised if you’re left with a stupid grin on your face, no matter how ‘trve’ you try to be.
We’ll see you in the pit!
