Horror Short Review: Zombie Cave (2023)

From Trepidation Pictures comes the horror short, Zombie Cave, which is as an ‘on the nose’ a title as you could possibly get. There’s a cave, and it has zombies in it.

How? Well, the opening narration that plays over the images of two men heading to said cave, explains very little about the origins of the dead. Only saying that the government has locked down their village because of the cave. The zombies inside come out at night and attack the village. These two men have had enough and plan to go inside, set a bomb, and blow it up.

That’s the story, with the short shot from the POV of one character, as the duo sneak around a nice-looking cave avoiding the zombies that are inside.

It’s quite amateurish and if you’re expecting great visuals or acting, you’re in the wrong place. However, credit can be given for the attempt to craft an emotional story in a short amount of time. Likewise, those who play the zombies are doing so with a fair amount of gusto and the cave environment does give them a more frightening look.

Trepidation Pictures seems to be a fairly new entry into the horror short world, and they can only get better, but for now Zombie Cave can be summed up as a solid flick with some imagination.
