Horror Short Review: The Voice (2023)

The Voice, a horror short that comes from actor, writer, and director Murat Kiziroglu, is a low-budget jump scareathon that rises above its issues to be a compelling watch. Issues such as dodgy dialogue and some uninspired effects.

A young boy is called by his father, but when he goes to see what he wants, he is grabbed by the man and dragged into a different room. Clearly frightened, the father tells his son not to go to the voice because it’s not him.

Is it though? Or is something more sinister going on?

If this was all The Voice had to offer, it wouldn’t hold much memorability, but it actually delivers its initial scare within the first minute and a half. Then using the latter part of its runtime to build upon that. It still doesn’t go anywhere amazing, but it’s nice to see a short this ‘short’ try and be a bit creative with how its story plays out.
