Horror Short Review: The Vacuum (2023)

Who says that writer and director Alex Magaña and ACMofficial are running out of ideas? Here’s a horror short about a vacuum cleaner.

Seriously though, it’s horror and that can come from anything.

Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

Becky Bush (who co-wrote the story) plays a maid cleaning up a house. She finishes the vacuuming and puts it away. However, as she is closing the door, she thinks she hears it shift. How very ominous. Of course, it was nothing and she closes the door and walks away. Only to hear the noise again. Turning slowly, she is shocked to see the vacuum cleaner seemingly watching her from around the corner.

Of course, that’s impossible. It’s just someone playing a prank, isn’t it?

Check it out below, to find out.

Try as they might, even ACMofficial can’t make a vacuum cleaner scary. It’s just too silly a premise and too silly a watch. However, that seems to be the goal here. It’s played for laughs rather than scares as the sight of a woman being sucked into a vacuum cleaner is more likely to make you snort than scream. That makes it a bit of a winner, even if it is mostly forgettable.
