Horror Short Review: The Necklace (2023)
From Alexanderthetitan comes The Necklace, a horror short written by Aaron Patrick Lenyear and starring Daijah Peters.
We trust Alexanderthetitan to deliver quality horror these days. Having seen enough of his work to go into something new with plenty of confidence. The Necklace is another high point in his creative work and provides some exceptional chills and thrills.
Late at night, a young woman leaves a train station, and takes a seat on a bench outside. It’s here that she notices a necklace on the ground. Picking it up, she figures that she will hang on to it, and puts it around her neck.
Wanting to see how it looks on her, she takes a selfie but is disturbed to see someone ‘photobombing’ the picture. There’s no one around though, and when she looks back at her picture, it just shows her now. How strange.
Maybe she imagined it, right? That’s what she seems to think, at first. Her night is about to get a whole lot more frightening.
Quality acting, brilliantly shot, creepy and tense. The Necklace’s simplicity works in its favour as it allows the dread to build from the very start. The tension builds, leading to a payoff that is delightfully twisted. Check it out below.
