Horror Short Review: Piano Man (2024)

From Jiya Kapur Films comes Piano Man, a horror short that tells a simple ghost story. One with just enough atmosphere to make the hairs on the nape of the neck stand up.

A young woman is relaxing at home on a rainy day, reading a book, when a couple of keys from the piano in another room are played. When she looks, nobody is there, so she dismisses it, but it’s only the start. A picture frame moves, and then when her back is turned, more piano keys are played.

Smartly, she figures she is being messed with, so picks up a poker and goes to investigate the piano, but finds nothing.

Of course, her torment is not over, and she’s about to experience something truly frightening.

Piano Man’s strength lies in its building atmosphere, heightened by a score that has Silent Hill vibes. It’s a wholly unoriginal idea, but given freshness by all of this. Alas, the payoff is lacking, as the reveal of the woman’s tormentor is not particularly scary.

At a little over four-minutes long, it doesn’t disappoint though, and in the right environment, it will leave a viewer feeling a cold chill go down their spine. Check it out yourself below.
