Horror Short Review: Don’t Press Record (2022)

From Studio24, a company made up of aspiring filmmakers, comes the horror short, Don’t Press Record. A horror short with a solid premise but not a lot else.

A young woman picks up a cheap video camera and ends up finding out that it might be cursed. Will she become just another person who once owned the camera?

It gives us no pleasure to say this but Don’t Press Record isn’t very good. Aside from an interesting premise and some talent behind the camera, it really has little else going for it. The acting is mediocre at best and the scares are more likely to make you laugh than scream with fright.

If you’re hoping for a good payoff, which it does initially promise, you’re not going to find it here. The appearance of the ‘villain’ and the accompanying sound effects ruin any horror the moment could have. Even though it tries really hard to make you jump with the tried and tested up close and loud noise final shot.

It’s a short that shows potential though. Check it out yourself below.
