Horror Short Review: Choke (2024)

Directed by Tristan Winchester, who co-wrote the story with Gavin Winchester, Choke is a creative horror short with a really simple premise. A man makes breakfast, eats the breakfast, and then chokes on a piece of banana while a mysterious figure watches.

That’s it. So, why is it so impressive?

Simply because of how talented the Winchester brothers clearly are. It’s just the two of them, doing everything, and the quality of how it is shot and edited really shows. Layering The Glue Song by Beabadoobee & Clairo over the majority of the short works really well too, giving it a more light-hearted feel. Needed, because all we’re effectively doing is watching a man choke to death.
