Horror Short Review: Be Careful What You Wish For 2 (2021)

Be Careful What You Wish For was a solid horror short that gave equal amounts of mystery and horror. The unexplained nature of what happened in that short was actually a major pro and Be Careful What You Wish For 2 builds on that.

Once again a woman (Courtney Rotz) makes a wish, this time for cosmetic surgery that will make her look younger. Blowing out a candle on a cupcake gifted to her by a friend, the lights go out and when they come back on, she finds abusive messages about her looks written all over mirror.

Suspecting her friend, she turns to confront her but finds the woman frozen and unable to speak. Then all her balloons begin to pop. It all feels very familiar if you saw the first short and that continues as her mirror self takes control of her body and sets about making her… beautiful.

What an improvement this short is. Taking the idea from the first short and really adding even more sinister levels to things. The combination of gothic music and Courtney Rotz’s acting makes this such a horrifying experience. You know exactly where it is going to go but you dare not look away.
