Horror Short Review: 2 Players Required (2023)
Written & produced by Jeremiah Lewis, directed & edited by Cameron Gallagher, and starring Sara Hallisey. 2 Players Required is an effectively creepy horror short that is enhanced by a fantastic acting performance and a really strong soundtrack.
Alone, and clearly troubled by being alone, a young woman decides to play a board game even though it needs 2 players. The early scenes of her convey so much about her character and the likelihood that she is grief-stricken. That’s what I got from it, although it could just be the fact that she is super-lonely. Either way, you can tell she is troubled.
Her troubles are going to seem minor in a moment though, as someone else wants to play the game with her.
It’s a creepy short with some great visual moments. You’ll feel a chill when the camera whips around quickly just to catch something slightly out of sight. You’ll feel a chill when the darkness from inside a box seems deeper than normal. 2 Players Required keeps building the chills, leading to a satisfying payoff that doesn’t show too much or too little.
It will keep you hooked right up to the last second, so check it out yourself below
