Horror Movie Review: Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 (2022)
Directed by David DeCoteau, and starring Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens, and Michelle Bauer. The 80’s horror-comedy, Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama has grown a cult following over the past few decades. Enough so, that 34 years after its release, we know have its long-awaited sequel.
Was it worth the wait?
Directed by Brinke Stevens, written by Sergei Hasenecz, and starring Kelli Maroney, Michelle Bauer, Brinke Stevens, Audrey Neal, Jessie Gill, Glory Rodriguez, and Katie O’Neill. Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 tries to recapture the magic of the original and fails miserably.
Yes, it pains me to say this but Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 is a bad movie.
Now, it’s not like the first one was a great movie, the story was notably poor, but it captured lightening in a bottle by having an incredible cast, blending horror and comedy nicely, and wasn’t afraid to be absurdly silly at times.
This sequel has an even worse story, a pretty poor cast, isn’t funny or frightening, and is extremely dumb almost constantly.
So, what’s the story? A group of sorority sisters and some frat brothers end up at the bowling alley from the first. Now abandoned, they mess about and inevitably unleash the Imp. Or the son of the original Imp. Yes, that’s the level of humour Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 has to offer.
Once free, he of course, starts to grant wishes, but almost immediately they begin to backfire on his victims. They’re now trapped inside the bowling alley with the vengeful creature, but maybe the ghosts of some previous victims can help them escape.
Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama 2 only just passes the hour mark in runtime, yet it feels double that. Such is the lack of effort, passion or excitement in the story or with the cast. The latter know they’re in a terrible movie, and the whole thing looks incredibly cheap.
This is particularly galling, because as trashy as the original one was, it had style and it made sure it stood out. No easy task in the latter portions of the 80s. This sequel is just trash. Insipid trash that makes the original look like a masterpiece by comparison. No wonder why Linnea Quigley chose to not reprise her role.
