Horror Movie Review: Evil Bong 888: Infinity High (2022)

Can you believe that the first Evil Bong movie came out way back in 2006? That it’s a franchise that is seven films (and one spinoff with the Gingerdead Man) deep? Well, if you know Full Moon, it’s probably not that much of a surprise.

What is a surprise is that this 8th film is supposed to be the final film in the franchise. It’s been a few years, but the bong is back! You can read what we think of the entire franchise to date via our definitive ranking, here.

Directed by Charles Band and written by Kent Roudebush, Evil Bong 888: Infinity High is not a ‘high’ point of the franchise. Though, to be fair, it’s not had many of those overall. What it is, is another Evil Bong movie. Expect tons of sex puns, weed jokes, plenty of Full Moon cameos, bare boobs, and not a lot else.

Sonny Carl Davis reprises his role as Rabbit, having given up his previous antics to open up a posh restaurant. Even though he doesn’t really know what he is doing. Proven by his poor staff choices, the lack of food, and the fact that his chefs Sal Monella (Israel Sharpe) and EeBee (voiced again by Michelle Mais), can’t get along.

The latter is still adamant that her and Rabbit should be taking over the world, but he insists they have gone legit. Even if the stress of it all is pushing him to go back to his old ways.

Stress caused by the lack of food for sale. So, Eebee comes up with the idea of adding some of her product to the little food they do have to offer customers. Resulting in stoner high jinks and… that’s about it.

There has never been a lot to the Evil Bong movies, but this entry is as low effort as they come. Reflected in the fact that Evil Bong 888: Infinity High is only 59 minutes long and only really seems to exist as a chance to throw in Full Moon cameo after cameo. It’s incredibly disappointing to see this franchise ‘end’ in such lacklustre fashion. Even the most ardent supporter of this series will find this hard to stomach.

At best, Full Moon fanatics will get a kick out of the self-referential humour but few others will. Even then, a lot of these jokes crash and burn, as it turns out a ton of sex puns and weed jokes repeated in film after film will eventually run out of steam.

Which is what this franchise did a long time ago. This bong has been smoked. It’s well and truly time to throw it in the trash.
