Game Review: Zoffice (Xbox Series X)
From Ikon Studios, the team behind Peepaw’s Farm, comes Zoffice. Another super-short effort that will please completionists and achievement hunters. We liked Peepaw’s Farm even if paying £4.19 for 15 minutes of gameplay was a bit much.
Zoffice is a game we’re far less forgiving on, simply because it’s just as short and just as easy. Although it’s got a more comedic tone and a much more satisfying, if limited, narrative.
You’re in charge of an office with a few members of staff. It’s the day of a big presentation and Chad from head office is heading down. Unfortunately, the office is in disarray. Items are missing, the presentation room isn’t ready and the staff are being particularly lazy.
Oh yeah, it’s also slap bang in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
Yes, this office is nothing more than a rickety collection of planks spread over rooftops where the dead desperately reach out for the living. The joke here is the mundane life of office work continuing even during the end times. Just who is the real zombie here?
It’s an amusing game, setting its tongue in its dead cheek from the moment you meet the security guard. Who just so happens to be dead! As you move around the ‘office’, interacting with items and people, you’ll start to get the feeling that they all might have lost their minds.
Like with Peepaw’s Farm, you’re given a handful of tasks to complete in a very small area. It’s mostly talking to people, finding an item and delivering said item. Ten minutes… tops. That’s how long it will take you complete it, the first time.
There’s no reason to play through it again… unless you’re after all those achievements. A second playthrough is all about speed as you’re tasked with completing all the objectives in under 5 minutes. It might sound hard but it really isn’t. So, there’s your 15 minutes of gameplay.
It is better than Peepaw’s Farm thanks to minor but useful improvements (being able to skip through dialogue is a godsend). However, once again we have to urge caution. It might not cost much but you’re really not getting much here.
