Game Review: Job the Leprechaun (Steam)
A simple 2D platformer with retro pixel art and chiptune sounds, Job the Leprechaun must rescue is friend Eri from the monsters that have come to Leprechaun Village. 38 levels full of monsters and puzzles, you must find all the clovers in the level then find the exit before the timer runs out.
A horde of goblins, zombies, caterpillars and many more monsters will try to stop you but Job can use his magic hat to kill them. The added mechanic of being able to deflect projectiles with the hat is a nice touch too.
There’s not much challenge here with the timer proving to be the thing that will likely stop you in your tracks every time. Speed is of the essence especially in later levels but all can be finished within a minute.
Every 20 levels you face a boss, and there’s one bonus level where you get to bounce around as a cow.
One of the more relaxing and easier platformers on Steam. It also has controller support which is very responsive and easy to use. However, it will be instantly forgotten the moment you finish it or give up on it as it’s an unmemorable entry in the platformer genre. While it manages to clear the low bar for fun, the basic gameplay and short run time does little to endear it to platformer fans.
