Game – Book Review: Five Nights At Freddy’s
This unofficial fan fiction tells the history of the night watch guards at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza & their dealings with the animatronics that become dangerous at night.
His words:
“I wrote my first fiction novel when I was seven years old. It was a detective story with cats as the main protagonists. Ever since then I have been busy doing engineering stuff, until I took a break and moved to USA for a while with my family. I had the opportunity to spend more time with my kid, who is a more serious gamer than I and even maintain a YouTube gamer channel. I soon got acquainted with the Freddy Fazbear series of games, and together with my son explored the hints and the theories about the story behind the games. The result of the exploration was my first published eBook “Five Nights at Freddy’s”.
What we get here is a fun take on the Five Nights at Freddy story & legend that fills in a lot of the blanks. It is arguable if these blanks needed filling in but as fan fiction goes it’s actually pretty good.
It doesn’t just focus on the animatronics either as we get a sub-plot regarding a serial killer. This portion is where things aren’t so good, the killer just comes out of nowhere & I had to read the section where he kills several kids at once twice to take it all in.
It’s completely out of the blue & is pretty dumb considering this takes place at a children’s party with no-one noticing & the killer being able to dispatch the kids so quickly they can’t even let out a scream.
The supernatural elements near the end work better as it gives more substance to the animatronics.
The book also includes little illustrations that I presume were supposed to look like children’s drawings. If not, oh…
