FastestVPN – A Newbie’s Review
Get a VPN. It will help protect your online security. Get a VPN. It will make browsing the internet and purchasing safer. Get a VPN. It will allow you to circumvent region locks on content. Get a VPN, now.
These are not my words. They are the words you will have read and heard over the past few years as VPNs have risen in prominence and become more of a necessity. Content creators, reviews, ads etc. You name it and VPNs are being talked about. Frankly it is exhausting. Especially when you just don’t really know anything about them nor have the time to pick and choose between the countless options out there.
Now, you might be thinking, this article is just going to do what all the other VPN review articles do. Tell you reasons why ‘so and so’ VPN service is good and bad, and you would be right. However, I’m taking it from a different angle because I am a VPN novice who, before using FastestVPN, had barely even tried to use one of the services before.
I’m around two weeks into using FastestVPN and kind of wondering how I ever managed before. Especially when you consider what this website does in regards to reviews, but I’ll get to that in a bit.
Firstly, let me talk about my previous experience with a VPN provider. It resulted in charges that weren’t advertised upfront and far more limitations than promised. After messing around with it for a day, a refund was requested and VPNs were forgotten about.
Until now.
Why choose FastestVPN? It’s in the title, even if it’s a bit on the nose and a bit risky to boast in such a way. I don’t have lots comparisons to make about speed but I can tell you, it’s fast. Now, you’re not going to get a ton of boring stats about pings, servers and other VPN magic here. That’s simply not my forte and I’d rather talk about my actual experience with it.
I started with the iOS app, set up my account and was immediately greeted by a screen with a drop-down list of available servers and a handy button to connect once one had been selected. A literal few seconds later, my current location was not London, England. It really was as simple as that. I couldn’t quite believe it. There had to be more, I thought. It can’t really be that straight-forward.
…but it was.
Ok, that’s the phone. What about at home on my computer? The simplicity of getting FastestVPN up and running there was jaw-dropping. Belgium to Hong Kong, Mexico and the US, Finland to India… I could go anywhere in the world at the press of a button. Or click of a mouse.
Not only that, nothing felt slower. Nothing felt sluggish and nothing felt like it was stuck together with a piece of chewing gum. It felt secure, especially after some cursory checks around IP details and DNS leaks. I’m not ‘computer smart’ but FastestVPN made me feel like I knew what I was doing and if I didn’t? Help was there.
To be honest though, I didn’t get interested in FastestVPN for the security aspect. I got interested because of the ability to get around region locked content. An on-going issue when you review obscure content that isn’t available in the UK. While being able to access US Netflix and so on is cool, that’s not what I was interested in.
Allow me to give an example of how FastestVPN helped me very recently.
Myself and one of our staff on the YouTube Channel run a series called They Made WHAT!? Into A TV Series? Where we talk about, make fun of, and review TV series adaptions. We’ve covered Mortal Kombat: Conquest and have recently been working our way through Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles. Have you heard of that? It’s pretty old and not available in the UK unless you buy the DVDs or watch via nefarious means.
Of course, doing that puts your internet security at risk. Do you see where I’m going with this?
Do you know where the episodes are available to stream in HD for free? Let’s just say I moved to Canada to watch the series. All with barely moving a muscle and never suffering lag or freezes. To call it seamless is an understatement and it’s all thanks to FastestVPN.
Do you know what the icing on the cake is though? FastestVPN is cheap and it offers something that not a lot of other VPN providers offer. Lifetime subscriptions. From what I understand by doing some comparisons, FastestVPN is one of the cheapest on the market.
As I write this, I have a quizzical look on my face. This is my personal experience with it and I know I have so much more to uncover. I know I am not using it to the best of its abilities and I know it’s going to continue to be very useful. The quizzical look is because when I hear about the best VPN providers, FastestVPN isn’t always mentioned and I can’t understand why. For me, it’s been nothing but a faultless experience.
