EP Review: Xenomorph – Delusions Ov Morality (Self Released)

Nihilistic rustbelt black metal solo artist Xenomorph is back with the EP ‘Delusions Ov Morality.’ The 3rd release from Xenomorph, a journey beginning with the conception of Swiss artist Hans Ruedi Giger’s Alien, and subsequent film quadrilogy interpretations of this concept. The tracks on this EP explore the points of view of different characters in the original four films, connecting the timeless attraction of these cinematic experiences into the eternal individual’s own specific realm of existence.

This is not our first wander into the wicked darkness that oozes from Xenomorph. An artist hugely inspired by the Alien franchise and the incredible art of H.R. Giger. With previous work and this new EP, Xenomorph strives to tell its own stories in a familiar blackened way. Although, that might not be completely clear with the opener, Enleitung. Ein Neuer Messias. A track that features moody synth and recordings of Giger talking about his work.

The true horror, raw and ruthless, is unleashed with the title track. Xenomorph’s hellish soundscape as chilling as the Nordic blackened sound of old. Undiluted and intense metal savagery from a very talented artist.

Following that, Xenomorph ups the action and the horror with Non Arma, Nulla Militaris. A cacophony of chaos that fits the frantic and desperate nature of the inspiration. Noted by the recordings that sit at the front and back of the track.

Finally, it’s something particularly nasty sounding with To the Void (Angus Dei) and Mère Des Monstres as Xenomorph moves into more ‘epic’ locales while being as suitably savage as always. The atmosphere in both tracks is extremely impressive making this EP another slice of quality from this solo artist.
