EP Review: Worn Out – Waste (Self Released)
Irish hardcore band, Worn Out will release their brand-new EP, Waste on December 3rd, 2021.
Fucking chaotic.
We don’t normally start a review off with a swearword, but such is the feral nature of this record, it was the first words that jumped into mind. Worn Out’s new EP is fucking chaos and it is great. An EP where you smell the sweat, blood, and piss… such is the intensity of this band.
An explosive start that swarms the mind with unbridled aggression and hardcore viciousness, the title track will tell you everything you need to know about Worn Out. Such as the likelihood that they named themselves Worn Out because of how bloody exhausted they were after playing their music.
Miles Away has the same explosivity delivered by jagged guitar riffs, ear-busting percussion and vocals that pummel away with a roaring desperation. Utterly mind-blowing hardcore noise.
Blind Eye is probably the most ‘rhythmically’ pleasing though. The head-banging becomes a bit more unified and even when they change tactics, this one is easier to grasp. It’s still utter chaos but you really start to get the feeling here that Worn Out are super-talented and not just a bunch of angry noise-mongers. The jabbing guitars at the end are immense.
It’s over? What a shame! No worries though as Worn Out go out with a bloody big bang. Force of Habit is just insane and if you think this band was heavy already, well, just listen to this track.
Modern hardcore at its best and one of 2021’s finest EPs. We can’t wait to see what these guys do next.
