EP Review: WormRose – The Coronation (Self Released)

WormRose is a Swedish metal/hard rock band formed in 2022. Their latest EP ‘The Coronation’ is out now. The beginning of an era. An era in which WormRose plants their seed into the world of rock and metal. The 4 tracks deliver everything you could desire and even more so, everything you didn’t know you desired.

Combining old-school heavy metal head-banging with groovy rock elements, WormRose certainly hit the ground running with Sinners Are Shades. It’s an infectious start that electrifies the senses, has lovely melodic tone shifts and features deeper lyrical meaning as the inspiration comes from scepticism of organised religion. The chorus will be stuck in the head for hours afterwards.

Ace Up My Sleeve keeps things hot and heavy, the touch of sleaze offering up a different taste of hard rock. Before Wild By Nature proves itself to being one of the more anthemic tracks on the EP. Guitars that scream, a chorus that soars, and a meaty metal tempo overall that hits all the right spots.

Finally, it’s Kiss my Feet. A hard-hitting riff-driven track with some exceptional vocals that lead the ups and downs of the rhythm. The groove enhanced by moments of explosivity, it’s a head-banger, simple as that, and it helps make The Coronation a very memorable listen overall.
