EP Review: VxHxS – Jaws (We Are Horror Records)
Out August 23rd, 2024, via We Are Horror Records, Jaws is the second EP from speed punk band, VxHxS. A digital re-release and remastering of the EP.
Five tracks and around six minutes of music. If that doesn’t tell you a lot about what you’re in for with Jaws, nothing will. VxHxS are a no-nonsense speed-infused punk band and Jaws is them sounding abrasive and angry, all while paying tribute to the iconic film, Jaws.
This is actually a re-release, a remastered re-release that serves to remind all that it’s still not safe to go back in the water. Evident by the speed and intensity that VxHxS make the hallmark of their sound on this EP. The instruments and vocals come at you hard and fast, and before you’ve even had a chance to drink in the fear, you’re dragged under.
What’s wrong with that? Especially as VxHxS are very good at making a racket, crafting sonic aspects of horror, and paying lovable tribute to an inimitable classic. Good stuff all round. Especially when it’s been cleaned up as well as this one has.
