EP Review: Veiled – The Black Rite (Seek & Strike)
Veiled are one of the UK’s newest forces of sonic brutality, whose uncompromising and unrelenting sound will be heard on their new EP ‘The Black Rite’, released 14th April via Seek & Strike.
Featuring scathing riffs, massive breakdowns, and symphonic touches; Veiled’s new EP is deliciously intense but cleverly structured. From the uber-gothic piano intro, layering, and resulting deathcore carnage that erupts from The Discovering [I] to the dramatic melodies and crushing ferocity of The Becoming [II], Veiled make sure you are paying attention.
Those two tracks, the opening and closing efforts, are fantastic examples of Veiled’s abilities to combine brutality with melody. Yet, they’re not alone either as Recusant has some real coarse sounding riffs and the vocals are exceptionally powerful here. Whereas Confession is a wonderful blend of melodrama and unmitigated speeding savagery. Immense sounding deathcore from this young band.
The EP is then rounded out with Relinquished, which features the talents of Kyle Lamb from the wonderful She Must Burn. It’s the track that will no doubt really help put Veiled, not just on the deathcore map, but the wider metal one too.
