With an exciting level of abrasiveness to their sound, while also being delightfully melodic, trueandtrue are proudly challenging post-punk demands by infusing emphatic aspects of the hardcore sound into their music. It’s a combination that certainly adds a briskness to the EP, and ensures the listener is fully engaged from Doomed, right through to Watch Me Dance (Again).

All thanks to a varied style too. trueandtrue seem to take a certain amount of joy in surprising the listener, not just track by track, but sometimes in the same track altogether. You really never know what is around the corner with this band and this EP, yet, it’s bloody interesting finding out!

Case in point? Jazz legend Bugge Wesseltoft who guests on Hollowed Out, Pt. 2. Taking an already unique sound and adding even more compelling layers to what trueandtrue do.

It, like everything on the EP, is the sound of true expressionism and a refusal to stick to any predetermined rules around genre. This band can proudly claim to be creative in a space that they’ve found comfort in. It just so happens to be an infectious listen for those putting their ears up to the door. Do you want to come in and party with trueandtrue? You’re going to have to open your mind, but you’ll be glad you did.
