EP Review: Torn Between – Last Chance Saloon (Self Released)
Emerging from the heart of the bleak industrial north in 2022, and with a sound combining hardcore energy and face-melting metal riffs, Torn Between stand as a powerhouse of musical intensity. Early 2023 saw the release of two stand-alone singles: Unapproachable and Dungeon Dweller, and now it’s time for their new EP, Last Chance Saloon. Out on December 8th, 2023.
With a ton of groove, and so much stompy heaviness, Torn Between start this new EP off in aggressive style with the title track. Offering up something that has hardcore savagery at its core but is much more riff orientated. It crashes, smashes, and lasts only seventy-seven seconds, but leaves a big impact.
It leaves you hungry for more, and happily, Torn Between have the meatiness to satisfy as Needs Must (When the Devil Drives) ups the tempo and things get even more chaotic sounding. It’s all about that stompy groove though, if you’re not head-banging until it hurts, you’ll be two-stepping until someone else does.
Finally, it’s Dust Off the ’45 and guess what? It goes f**king hard. It goes really f**king hard. Torn Between delivering a constant bombardment of relentless riffs, potent hooks, thumping drums, and punitive vocals. A banger three-track EP from a band with bright things in their future.
