EP Review: Titan Breed – Legacy (Self Released)

Born and bred in Glasgow, Scotland, Titan Breed combine elements from all areas of the metal genre and have been carving a destructive path ever since their live performance debut in April 2016.

In April 2017 the band released their debut studio EP ‘Edge Of The World’, five original tracks including live staples ‘Descend in Isolation’ and ‘Everytime’. Later that year Titan Breed were crowned winners of the renowned Metal 2 The Masses competition, resulting in a celebrated festival debut at Bloodstock Open Air in August of 2017.

The band have since completed their first ever UK tour – opening for fellow Scotland based metal/hiphop band Neshiima – as well as landing support slots with some major players in the metal scene, including the opportunity to open for metal legends Obituary (2018) and Alien Weaponry (2019).

Titan Breed used the remainder of 2019 to finish writing and recording their second studio EP. As a result, the ‘Legacy’ EP will be released on the 14th February 2020.

A bright light in the underground Scottish metal scene, Titan Breed bring the heavy groove on their new EP. An exciting blend of chunky groove, snarling heaviness and melodic energy. All of that and more in just the opening title track. The machine-gun firing of the guitars and drums is properly delicious.

The contrasting vocals that cropped up in the opener are way more prominent on Destined to Fail. The more savage side serving as a backing singer during the chorus but taking no prisoners elsewhere. It’s damn cool but the groovy breakdown near the end is what really stands out here.

The tempo gets hotter for The Key to Fear, Titan Breed showing just how much groove they have in their tank. A little bit meaner but a whole lot catchier, this is the track of the EP.

Although A Change of Fate comes mightily close thanks to a kick-ass metal rhythm and a desperate sounding set of vocals. Closing out their impressive new EP, these Scottish heavyweights tell the truth when they say We Bring Destruction.

A raging pit of heavy, the head is banging along within an instant and it won’t stop for 5 minutes. It’s a banger and an absolute pleasure to hear this band really delivering on Legacy. If they hadn’t turned heads previously, this will do the job and deservedly so.
